Role Overview
We're seeking a talented Backend Developer to join CODVO.AI's Engineering team and help build robust, scalable solutions for the oil & gas industry. In this role, you'll design and develop backend systems that power critical applications, working with modern technologies in a fully remote environment. Your contributions will directly impact how our clients optimize operations and make data-driven decisions in one of the world's most important sectors.
What You'll Do
- Design and develop scalable backend services and APIs using Node.js, ensuring high performance and reliability for enterprise-level applications
- Build and maintain database architectures and optimize queries to support complex data processing requirements specific to oil & gas operations
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including frontend developers, product managers, and domain experts to translate requirements into technical solutions
- Implement security best practices and compliance standards relevant to the oil & gas industry, including data protection and system hardening
- Write clean, maintainable code with comprehensive documentation and participate in code reviews to maintain high quality standards
- Troubleshoot and debug production issues, implementing monitoring and logging solutions to ensure system reliability and performance
- Integrate third-party APIs and services to extend platform capabilities and streamline workflows for our clients
- Contribute to continuous improvement by identifying optimization opportunities, proposing architectural enhancements, and staying current with industry best practices
What We're Looking For
Required Qualifications:
- 3+ years of professional backend development experience
- Strong proficiency in Node.js and modern JavaScript/TypeScript
- Solid understanding of RESTful API design and development
- Experience with relational and/or NoSQL databases (PostgreSQL, MongoDB, or similar)
- Familiarity with version control systems (Git) and CI/CD pipelines
- Ability to write testable code and experience with testing frameworks
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively in remote teams
Nice to Have
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud)
- Knowledge of containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes)
- Familiarity with message queues or event-driven architectures (RabbitMQ, Kafka)
- Experience in the oil & gas, energy, or industrial sectors
- Understanding of microservices architecture patterns
- Experience with GraphQL or other modern API technologies
- Contributions to open-source projects
