Role Overview
CODVO.AI is seeking an experienced Trauma Surgeon to join our Engineering department in a full-time, office-based role. In this position, you will leverage your extensive clinical expertise and advanced surgical skills to contribute to our mission of advancing trauma care delivery and patient outcomes. You will work collaboratively with our multidisciplinary team to apply your deep knowledge of emergency medicine and critical care to innovative solutions that impact trauma care systems.
What You'll Do
- Lead trauma resuscitation efforts by applying advanced protocols for patient stabilization, airway management, and rapid response handling in high-acuity situations
- Manage critical care procedures including intubation, chest tube placement, suturing, and other emergency interventions while maintaining strict infection control protocols
- Oversee ICU-level patient care by directing critical care and ICU nursing teams, managing mechanical ventilators (Puritan Bennett, Servo-i systems), and administering IV drips and medications with precision
- Respond to code blue events by coordinating rapid response teams, directing resuscitation protocols, and making real-time clinical decisions to optimize patient survival
- Perform point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS) assessments to guide clinical decision-making and enhance diagnostic accuracy in emergency settings
- Develop and implement clinical workflows that integrate advanced airway management techniques and trauma care best practices into operational systems
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate clinical expertise into engineering solutions that improve emergency medicine delivery and patient outcomes
- Mentor and guide clinical staff on trauma protocols, emergency procedures, and evidence-based practices to ensure consistent, high-quality care delivery
What We're Looking For
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum 10+ years of experience as a practicing Trauma Surgeon or equivalent senior-level emergency medicine physician
- Board certification in Surgery with trauma specialization (or equivalent international credential)
- Demonstrated expertise in critical care and ICU nursing management
- Proficiency in emergency procedures including intubation, suturing, and chest tube placement
- Advanced knowledge of mechanical ventilator operation and management
- Hands-on experience with point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS) in clinical settings
- Strong understanding of infection control protocols and patient safety standards
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative engineering environment
- Excellent communication skills with ability to translate clinical knowledge for technical audiences
Nice to Have
- Experience with trauma center operations or emergency department management
- Familiarity with healthcare technology systems and digital health solutions
- Background in clinical research or quality improvement initiatives
- Experience mentoring residents or junior clinical staff
- Knowledge of trauma registry systems or data analytics in emergency medicine
- Certifications in Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) or similar advanced training
